Ben
Hogan
1950 US Open 16x20
(Unsigned) |
$229
Web
Special! $199 |
|
Texas
native Ben Hogan began his professional golfing career in 1931
and was by most accounts the greatest golfer of his time and one
of the greatest of all-time. In 1948 alone, Ben Hogan won an astounding
10 tournaments. Tragically, the following winter a head-on collision
with a bus nearly killed him. With a double fracture of the pelvis,
a fractured collar bone, left ankle fracture, chipped rib, and
near fatal blood clots, he would suffer lifelong circulation problems
and other physical limitations. His doctors said he might never
walk again, let alone play golf competitively. However, he not
only played again, he won again...and again...and again. In one
of the most famous comebacks in the annals of sports, Hogan defeated
Lloyd Mangrum and George Fazio in an 18 hole playoff at Merion
C.C. to win the 1950 U.S. Open. Hogan went on to record 12 more
PGA wins, including 6 Majors. He even received a ticker-tape parade
in New York City after winning the 1953 Open Championship. And
this astounding comeback all started with this historic shot.
A still-weakened Hogan faced an approach shot of more than 200
yards on the 18th Hole. Ben pulled out his 1-iron (1-iron!) and
stuck his shot within 40 feet of the hole. His eventual par on
the hole forced the play-off which he won. And a golf legend was
born... This handsome 26"w x 22"h (framed) unsigned
photograph of that legendary shot would make a fine addition to
any golfer's home or office. And for a limited time it is a Web
Special!

| Did
you know?
It is a well known fact the Ben Hogan, one of the greatest
ball strikers of all time, never had a competitive ace
(hole-in-one). Sharon Ray, his longtime secretary, claims
Hogan never made one in leisure play either. Author
Jim Dodson says that in the early days, pins were made
of hickory so when Hogan would hit the flagstick, the
ball would bounce off the green. He said Hogan stopped
aiming at the cup because of that. |

2004
was quite a year for Phil Mickelson. "Lefty" won in
his first Tour appearance of the season for the fifth time in
his career, capturing the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. It was a
sign of things to come. At the age of 33 years, 9 months and 26
days, Mickelson finally captured his first Major Championship
in his 47th attempt (43rd as a professional), winning the Masters
Tournament. No longer was Phil the "Best Golfer To Have Never
Won A Major." Phil went on to card three top-three Major
finishes (First at Maters, 2nd in the US Open, and 3rd at the
British Open) and had top ten finishes in all four Majors for
the first time in his career (only Phil and Ernie Els accomplished
this feet in 2004). And in 2005 and 2006, Phil added two more
feathers to his cap - the 2005 PGA Championship and the 2006 Masters.
A great collectible from a great golfer, this hand-signed photograph
of Phil showcases his classic left-handed swing. Framed in quality
thick black wood and UV-protective glass, this is a great gift
for any golf fan.

Illustrated (Signed) |

Masterstroke
Mickelson Wins His First Major
So
says the cover of this Sports Illustrated from April, 2004. Phil
Mickelson's gallant charge in the final nine of the 2004 Masters
left goose bumps, especially when Phil made the 18-footer on the
final hole for birdie and a one-stroke win over Ernie Els. The
victory erased Mickelson's name off the top of the list of "Best
Player Not To Win a Major" and thrust him into the
upper echelon of great golf personalities (especially after his
2nd Major win at the 2005 PGA Championship and third at the 2006
Masters). Of course Tiger
is still the most popular golfer in the world, but if he isn't
careful he could very easily be replaced by Phil, a modern day
Arnold Palmer in terms of his connection to the fans. Should it
happen, there isn't a better person to take over Tiger's reins
than Mickelson. This authentic Sports Illustrated is hand-signed
by Phil and Sports Gallery Quality Framed in thick black wood,
UV-protective glass (very important for signature protection!),
and classic green suede double matting. The magazine itself is
also encapsulated within the frame for additional protection.
One of the great moments in golf history, remember the win that
started it all for Phil with this timeless collectible. But hurry,
we only have one remaining
in our stores.

Phil
Mickelson & Tiger Woods
2006 Masters Champion 16x20
(Unsigned) |
$229
Web
Special! $199 |
|
Once
known as the lovable loser who went a dozen years before he figured
out how to win golfs biggest tournaments, Phil Mickelson
captured his second straight Major at the 2006 Masters. He closed
with a 3-under 69 for a two-shot victory and his second Green
Jacket in three years. Instead of the heart-stopping finish of
the 2004
Masters, in 2006 Phil methodically built a lead that
forced Fred Couples, Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh to try to catch
him. No such luck. This was the third straight year Mickelson
has won a Major - Woods is the only other player to have done
that in the last 20 years. Only five others have won Majors in
three straight seasons since the Masters began in 1934. The victory
moved Mickelson up to No. 2 in the world behind only Woods and
identified him as a major force in the golf world. At Butler Cabin
shortly after his final putt on the 18th, Tiger Woods, the 2005
Masters Champion, slipped the green jacket on Mickelson's shoulders,
a role reversal from the previous year when Mickelson presented
Tiger with the prize jacket. "I really don't want to trade
next year," Mickelson said. "I certainly enjoyed the
jacket put on me." This timeless 16x20 photograph shows arguably
the two best golfers in the game today sharing one of golf's great
traditions - the presenting of the Masters Green Jacket. Handsomely
framed and matted with commemorative plaque, this beauty would
look great in any golfer's office or den.

Phil, a righthander, became a lefthanded golfer when
he tried to mirror his father's swing. When his Dad
hit balls into a net in the Mickelson yard, 18-month
old Phil Jr. would wander too close. Dad would tell
Phil to stand opposite him so he could keep an eye on
the tyke while he hit balls. Pretty soon, Phil started
to mirror what his father, a righthander was doing and
thus "Lefty" was born. |

golfer to win all four professional tournaments more than once.
His pro wins include six Masters, five PGAs, four U.S. Opens,
and three British Opens. This classic photograph from the British
Open shows Jack waving from historic Swilcan Bridge, a wave he

Jack Nicklaus 6-Time Winner Presents Arnold Palmer With His 4th

Augusta National - 1964
So
reads the plaque on this unique bit of golf history. Tied for
the lead after the first round, Arnold Palmer led at the conclusion
of play the next three days to become the first four-time winner

and a final round 70. A dominating performance start to finish.
This very cool photograph shows Jack presenting Arnold with his
final green jacket (it would be his last Masters win) in front
of a jubilant crowd. What makes this photograph unique is the
photo colorization done to the green coats worn by Jack and Arnold.
Nothing symbolizes the Masters more than the green coat presented
